EDUCATION AND TRAINING

EDUCATION AND TRAINING are the next steps to achieve the
organization’s vision. There are three ways to learn: rote (how you memorized multiplication
tables), reference (how you apply history’s lessons), and trauma – how you learn
the really hard lessons in life. As one of our most prolific writers – Anonymous –
put it, “if you think education is expensive, price ignorance.” Practically every
organization is a “Learning Organization”; however, some select trauma repeatedly.
Peter Senge’s, The Fifth Discipline, points out that”survival learning” or
what is more often termed “adaptive learning” is important – indeed it is
necessary. But for a learning organization, “adaptive learning” must be joined by
“generative learning”, learning that enhances our capacity to create’ (Senge
1990:14).
JAD Tech members have been course developers, instructors, and curriculum
managers for a variety of IBM corporate courses that were delivered in stand-up classrooms,
and via satellite, throughout North America and globally. Courses have included project management,
business case development, business systems analysis, consulting inside the organization, process
and data modeling, JAD, RAD, prototyping, function point analysis, and strategic planning. Selected
courses were approved by PACE University in New York for college credit. The JAD Tech team is
committed to Senge’s concept of “generative learning” and to supporting the
intellectual capital of the organization.
