BUSINESS DATA AND PROCESS MODELING are usually a parallel step with process
reengineering; or modeling can be a separate effort to bring efficiencies to the organization’s
data resources. The JAD Tech team has process and data modelers who have worked on such significant
projects as the first, fully integrated data models for the 34 Olympic sports of the 1996 Atlanta
Olympic Games and the Verizon enterprise data warehouse project. Much of the cost to develop
and support enterprise applications can be identified with data integrity problems in legacy
systems. In addition to data integrity improvements from modeling, organizations often report
that improving communications across the client and I/T teams is as significant a reason to
do data modeling as cost savings.
